About this piece

Most watch collectors don’t travel with multiple watches because they don’t trust their second-favourite watch to a hotel safe or a packed suitcase pocket. This roll fixes the problem at minimum cost.

What it actually solves

You wear your daily watch on the flight. You want a dressier watch for the evening. Without a roll, you have three bad options:

  1. Wrap it in a sock works once, you forget which sock, you wear the watch home with sock fluff in the bracelet
  2. Buy a hard travel case: £150+, takes up half a packing cube
  3. Leave the second watch at home; defeats the point

The roll sits in any side pocket of a carry-on, weighs less than a phone (180g), and holds two watches with the kind of padding that actually protects.

Two watches — pick your pair

The 2-watch capacity is intentional. For 80% of travellers, two watches is the right number for a trip your daily, plus one for restaurants/events/evening. Common pairings:

  • Sports + dress. Submariner + dress watch for dinners
  • Daily quartz + mechanical; your beater + your good one
  • Vintage + modern — for collectors who don’t want to choose
  • Two dress watches for a wedding or formal trip with multiple evenings

If you collect and want to pack 4-6 watches for a longer trip, a 5-watch roll is the upgrade: but for most people, 2 is the right answer.

Build details

The exterior is premium PU leather over a foam-padded interior. The microsuede lining inside the compartments is the same fabric used in luxury watch presentation boxes; soft enough to handle a sapphire crystal or polished bezel without micro-scratching.

The snap closure is brass, interlocking, rated for thousands of cycles. Won’t pop open under luggage compression. Won’t snag on bag liners.

Rolled, the entire kit is 11cm × 8cm × 8cm — smaller than a paperback book, fits in any side pocket of a backpack, briefcase, or carry-on suitcase.

Who this is for

  • Frequent business travellers who pack a dress watch alongside their daily
  • Watch collectors taking their first trip with a high-value piece
  • Gift for a watch enthusiast who doesn’t yet have travel storage
  • Anyone with two watches they actually wear (vs an unworn collection)
  • Single-watch owners (you don’t need a roll, you wear it on the flight)
  • Collectors needing to pack 4+ pieces (get a larger roll or case)
  • Watch boxes for home display (this is travel storage, not a permanent home)
  • Watches over 50mm case (won’t fit measure your case before buying)

Questions answered

What size watches does it fit? +

Fits any standard wristwatch up to 50mm case diameter and 24mm strap width covers everything from a slim dress watch (Junghans Max Bill, Nomos Tangente) to most sports watches (Rolex Submariner, Omega Seamaster, even the 44mm Panerai). Won't fit oversized 47mm+ Bell & Ross or Hublot Big Bang.

Will it fit a watch with a NATO or rubber strap? +

Yes, the compartments are deep enough to accommodate the extra bulk of a NATO strap, leather strap with deployant clasp, or rubber dive strap. Bracelets (metal) sit comfortably without compression.

Is two watches enough for travel? +

For most travellers, yes — your daily watch + one for evenings/dressier occasions. If you collect and want to pack 4-6 watches for a trip, look at a 5-watch or 6-watch roll. For a weekend or week-long trip, 2 is genuinely sufficient.

Will the snap closure pop open in my luggage? +

No: the snap is a brass interlocking type rated for 10,000+ open/close cycles, with enough resistance that compression in a packed suitcase won't trigger it. Your watches stay rolled in even under pressure.

How does this compare to a hard watch case? +

Hard cases (think Pelican-style) protect against drops and crushing better, but they are bulky often 20cm × 15cm × 8cm rigid. This soft roll is more flexible: rolls smaller, fits in any bag pocket, lighter (180g vs 800g+ for hard cases). For airline travel with a packed carry-on, the soft roll wins on space; for checked luggage with rough handling, a hard case is safer.

Is the leather real? +

Premium PU (polyurethane) leather, not genuine. We use PU here specifically because it's more flexible than leather of equivalent thickness, the roll-up function works better with PU. Genuine leather in a thin watch roll cracks at the fold points within months.

How do I clean it? +

Exterior: wipe with a damp cloth. Interior: brush with a soft clothes brush to lift dust from the microsuede. Avoid water on the interior padding; the microsuede won't shrink but the foam padding can get soggy.

Is it suitable as a gift for a watch collector? +

Yes — particularly good for someone who has a watch collection but doesn't yet have travel storage. The 2-watch capacity is ideal as a 'first travel roll' rather than overwhelming. Ships in branded LuxuryTrex gift packaging.
